Gringotts Tree of Life Copper Bookmark

The focal piece in this design is a Gringotts gold coin. I love anything Harry Potter, so this design came naturally. I did my best to design the piece to resemble a willow tree (whomping willow). I had never seen a tree of life in bookmark form and decided to give it a try.

I wove this design with four different weave patterns, which add texture and contrast. Many faceted green beads in varying colors are worked into this design.

I oxidized the copper to an exquisite patina, adding depth and contrast of color in the metal. I then tumbled the bookmark with steel shot; this strengthens the piece and adds a high gloss to the copper.

One of my favorite features of the bookmark is the swirls that grace the end.
