This was a fun bookmark to make. The grinning skulls are made of natural stone. The two black heads are marcasite, and the blue head in the center of them is howlite.
I wove two distinctive patterns into this piece; one looks like a skinny pineapple; the other is more in the spire’s shape.
I oxidized the copper to an exquisite patina, adding depth and contrast in colors in the metal. The bookmark is then tumbled with steel shot; this strengthens the piece and adds a high gloss to the copper.
