I first shape and cut heavy gauge wire into jump rings, each jump ring of the chain is formed and then cut, after cutting the rings are put through a tumbler for several days to shine and strengthen the copper. After linking the jump rings together to form a strong chain, I bead the copper balled headpins (which I have made using a torch).
The solar light portion of this suncatcher is made from cracked glass and is very bright when lit at night. I tested this solar light after recharging it in a sunny window, it stayed lit for over 24 hours in my darkened workshop. One of the great features of this design is the large lobster claw clasp on the end of the chain, so if the light eventually does not work any longer, it can be replaced by another suncatcher or ornament of your choosing.
I have placed each bead grouping with care to add a deliberate whimsical feel to the Solar Serendipity Suncatcher. Some of the bead types used are crystal, seed beads, bicone, and bumpy lampwork beads in vivid colors and textures. Solar Serendipity will be a wonderful gift for someone special or to treat yourself, so choose your favorite Serendipity today! Original design handmade with love and dedication by Amanda’s Treasures.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
I suggest my suncatchers are hung in a window, under an overhang or porch, as glass will eventually fade over time if continually exposed to the elements. The copper will age to a beautiful patina but will rust if consistently exposed to moisture.
