Star garnets are a rare stone found in two places, Idaho in the USA and India.
The star garnet captured in this bookmark has a lot of flares. The star formations in the garnet show up frequently, and it does not require a lot of light to show the stars.
I added gorgeous iridescent dark teal beads to the crest at the top of the design, which complements the burgundy color of the stone.
I wove this design with three different weave patterns, which add texture and contrast.
I oxidized the copper to an exquisite patina, adding depth and contrast of color in the metal. I then tumbled the bookmark with steel shot; this strengthens the piece and adds a high gloss to the copper.
