I have never come across a carving like this one. I was told it is vintage. I am fascinated by how the stone turns from shiny black to lustrous gold when the stone is tilted. Entirely wrapped in copper with natural copper beads as well as faceted jet black beads.
Golden obsidian derives its name from an ancient Roman explorer called Obsius, who was given a mystical black glass sphere from a volcano by an Ethiopian woman called Xenia. It is also called the “wizard stone” because it has been used since ancient times in many magical practices.
